Almost finished buying my home

The purpose of this blog is to record the epic project I am undertaking. I am purchasing an old Irish farmhouse, with absolutely stunning views however, as always there is a catch. It has been vacant for nearly a decade and prior to that it had elderly occupants who were unable to fully maintain the house. The house as it is requires a mammoth amount of work and love to turn it into the Oasis that I dream it can be.

These posts should take you through everything from the day the sale goes through, to the first clean out of acquired rubbish, to the planning phase (where my artistic displays will be presented in full glory, eesh). The next phase will be mostly bureaucracy and paperwork, because of the age of the house and the length of vacancy the house is eligible for grants in order to renovate it, therefore the next phase will be masses of paperwork and lots of waiting around, whilst finishing the planning and budgeting, in time and money, the full extent of the plan. Due to the restrictions on the grant I have to have achieved a certain amount within the first year, so once the application comes through it will be all go for a year. I am hoping that my staying power for this little project (the blog not the house) remains because I would love to look back and see how far I have come. Wish me luck.
