The Contract

Okay so no plans or pictures for this week - instead exciting bureaucratic stuff. The contract for my house was sent to me in the past couple of days, I'll be honest, it was mostly just legal mumbo jumbo that I didn't really understand. That being said, because it is legal stuff I got a good friend of mine (who is more knowledgeable about these affairs) to read it as well, and they are under the impression that that the contract seems to be pretty standard and so we are all good. Which means we are a-go. Celebration time.

It feels absolutely unreal to me that after all of this time I might finally have a home that is mine, a place that is completely my own and that no matter what I can always come back to. There is a quote I have always loved. It has been quoted and requoted a bunch of time but it boils down to this.

Life should be a series of daring adventures launched from a secure base.

For a long time I feel like I have been missing the secure home base, the yearning for a home which I can then launch my next adventures from. Whilst my home is not finished and won't be for a while, I feel like that bit of me that feels adrift is finally setting. These past couple of days have been a roller coaster of; have I made the right decision, oh my word I am finally going to have a home, what if it all goes wrong and I'm left with nothing. This is probably the biggest decision of my life and I think having doubts is probably wise, because it means that I have really thought it through. The fact that even with all of the worry about whether this is the correct decision, I am still unbelievably excited about what is to come, means that I think I am doing the right thing.

From here the contracts get signed, lots of paperwork gets filled in and I will have to pay solicitors, the tax man, and the sellers. Then a couple of weeks later I will be toasting with champaign in my brand new (well quite old) home. It is an exciting couple of weeks, and it is coming just in time for Christmas.
